Finch was born in the city of La Mirada, California. at the age of 5, began playing softball. Doug his father, Doug, became her first pitching teacher. Jennie started with the Finch Windmill which is a tool to strengthen and condition the arm in the age of 10. In high school, she threw six perfect games and 13 no-hitters. Following her time in high school, she enrolled at the University of Arizona and was named a three-time All American pitcher, as well as a first-baseman. The nation voted her the Most Outstanding Softball Player at the end of 2001 by the Wildcats who won the championship and also in 2002.
